Description

The Clarendon Hotel is a reduced Gothic building featuring four stories, an attic, and a basement, except for the Balmoral, which lacks a basement. The two southernmost sections have been combined to create the Sea Bank Hotel. The Sea Bank Hotel has a four-window facade, while the Clarendon Hotel has a two-window facade. The Queensbridge Hotel and Blaenwern also have bull-nosed rubble facing. The end two houses, Abergeldie and Balmoral, have double fronted three-window snecked rubble elevations similar to those at the southern end of the terrace, with the Balmoral incorporated into the Alexandra Hall of Residence.

All buildings feature freestone banding, and most facades are colourwashed. They have slate roofs, brick chimney stacks, and moulded eaves. Pitched roof dormers, some with ornamental timberwork, are present, while the Queensbridge and Sea Bank Hotels have modern glazing. The other hotels feature sash windows set in stilted headed recesses. The third-floor windows are arranged in groups of two and three, with splayed three-storey bay windows below flanking the entrance. These bay windows are supported by cylindrical columns with annulettes and some dentil cornices. The Queensbridge and Clarendon Hotels have Gothic trefoil punched aprons. The Sea Bank Hotel has a modern ground floor loggia, while the other hotels have arched entrances with uncarved headstops and fanlights above modern doors.
