Description

Blaenwern is a reduced Gothic building featuring four storeys, an attic, and a basement, except for Balmoral, which does not have a basement. The two southernmost units have been combined to create the Sea Bank Hotel. The Sea Bank Hotel has a four-window front, while the Clarendon Hotel, Queensbridge Hotel, and Blaenwern each have a two-window front, all constructed with bull-nosed rubble facing. The end two houses, Abergeldie and Balmoral, have double fronted three-window snecked rubble elevations similar to those at the southern end of the terrace; Balmoral has been incorporated into Alexandra Hall of Residence.

All buildings feature freestone banding, and most fronts are colourwashed, with slate roofs, brick chimney stacks, and moulded eaves. Pitched roof dormers are present, some adorned with ornamental timberwork. The Queensbridge and Sea Bank Hotels have modern glazing, while the other buildings feature sash windows set in stilted headed recesses. The third-floor windows are arranged in groups of two and three, with splayed three-storey bay windows flanking the entrance. These bay windows are supported by cylindrical columns with annulettes and some have dentil cornices. The Queensbridge and Clarendon Hotels display Gothic trefoil punched aprons. The Sea Bank Hotel has a modern ground floor loggia, while the other buildings have arched entrances with uncarved headstops and fanlights above modern doors.
