18 Market Street

18 Market Street is a terrace of three-storey buildings featuring three-window fronts with roughcast and scribed render in a simple classical style. The buildings have rusticated quoins and cill bands on Nos 18 and 21. They are topped with slate roofs, wide boarded eaves, and three rendered chimney stacks. The windows are sash glazed, with 12 panes on the first and second floors. No 18 has lugged architraves with ornamental keystones, while No 21 features Tudor style hood moulds with keystones and foliated stops. Nos 19 and 20 have voussoir lintels above their windows.

The ground floor of No 18 includes two windows similar to those above, flanking an arched entrance with a keystone and a recessed split six-panel door. No 19 has a 16-pane sash window on the left and a splayed bay on the right, with a central recess containing two doors: a four-panel door on the left and a half-glazed door on the right, both with fanlights. No 20 has a modern shop front with a splayed recess and modern doors. No 21 features two grouped eight-light windows flanking a central arched entrance with various recessed modern doors. The left side of No 18 has scribed render, while the right side of No 21 is plain rubble, with a low modern extension adjoining that is not of special interest.
