Description

The County War Memorial is a war memorial featuring a tall Doric column made of ashlar, standing on a high pedestal that is raised above a base of two square stone steps. The pedestal has inscriptions on its sides in both Welsh and English. The northwest inscription honors the brave men of Montgomeryshire who fell in the Great War from 1914 to 1919. The southwest side commemorates those from the county who lost their lives in World War II from 1939 to 1945, with the phrase, "At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them."
