Description
Myrtle Cottage is a semi-detached cottage built from whitewashed rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. It features a large red brick chimney stack at the ridge where it joins Bank Cottage. The cottage is two storeys high and has a single window bay at the front, with leaded casement windows on both the ground and first floors. There are steps leading down to a ledged cellar door that has a brick head.
The south end gable and the rear wing have been extensively modernized in the 20th century, now featuring painted render and modern windows. A modern hipped lean-to has been added against the ground floor, enclosing a window on the south end and a door in the first bay of the two-bay rear wing. An external chimney breast is present on the west gable, topped with a thin brick stack. There is also an outshut at the rear of the rear wing.
Inside, the cottage has an oak staircase with turned balusters and ledged doors. The ground floor rooms feature exposed ceiling beams.
