Description
Llwynobin Farmhouse is a red brick building constructed in a Flemish bond pattern, dating from the 18th century. The front is punctuated by large blocks of green stone in the rear and left-end walls. The roof is slate, with flat eaves and a red brick stack on the right-hand side; a stack on the left has been removed. The farmhouse is three storeys high, with three bays and flat-headed mullioned or mullion-and-transom windows, painted white, each with a hood mould and small panes of glass. The upper windows have three six-pane lights, while the first and ground floor windows feature six-pane lights and four-pane top-lights above a transom. Four brick and stone steps lead to a central doorway featuring a tall doorcase with thin pilasters, a panelled fascia, and a flat hood supported by thin iron rods. The door is flush-panelled with six panels, and it has a four-pane overlight set within a flush reveal. A Salop Fire Office insurance plaque is affixed to a pilaster on the left side. A basement window, with stone voussoirs, is located on the left-hand side. The left-end wall is windowless and constructed of stone, while the right-end wall is windowless and built of brick. The rear stone wall includes a triple casement window to the left on the second and first floors, featuring iron opening lights; the first-floor window has a cambered head and stone voussoirs. A brick lean-to has been added below, with a casement pair to the left and an infill section incorporating some stone. A door is flanked by three modern windows to the left and two to the right. A rear wing of stone is present, with a tall red brick chimney on the back wall. It features two widely-separated windows on the upper floor—a triple casement to the left and a pair to the right. On the ground floor, the left window is obscured by the lean-to, the centre was formerly a door now a window and a door; all three have cambered heads and stone voussoirs. To the right is a stone outbuilding with a similar ridge line to the main house but with a set-back front wall and higher eaves. It has two bays, with a cambered doorway and window on each floor; the upper openings have brick heads and the lower openings, stone voussoirs. A lower and wider stone outbuilding stands to the right, with two widely-separated small boarded loft doors under the eaves, above two windows and a central door, all with cambered heads and stone voussoirs. The roof extends over an added stone barn, which features a full-height opening against the former end wall and brick quoins to the right jamb. A single-storey range is attached at right angles to the right and it encloses the north side of the yard. The interior of the farmhouse has not been inspected.
