Description
No. 3 Argoed Cottages is part of a group of three cottages that create a single symmetrical design. The central cottage, No. 2, is two stories tall, while the outer cottages, Nos. 1 and 3, are one and a half stories with lower eaves and entrances located in the side walls. The cottages are built from snecked rubble with brick quoins and dressings, topped with a steep slate roof featuring two brick ridge stacks. The windows are original small-pane wooden casements.
Cottage No. 2 has a half-glazed panelled door with an overlight, situated within an open lean-to porch supported by posts. It features two-light windows with transoms on the lower floor and shorter two-light windows on the upper floor. The central upper window is positioned beneath a brick gable. The outer cottages, Nos. 1 and 3, each have central doorways in the side walls, also with half-glazed panelled doors and overlights, and a pentice that extends across the entire elevation on wooden posts. Above each doorway, there is a two-light brick half dormer.
On the gable ends facing the road, the cottages have three-light transomed bay windows on the lower floor and two-light windows above. The rear of the cottages is slate hung on the upper story, featuring two-light windows in the upper storey of the cross wings, with additional structures present on the lower storey.
