Description
Porth-gwibedyn is a two-storey building featuring Tyrolean-rendered brickwork and a slate roof. The main entrance is a boarded door located within a small open porch, which leads into the former open hall. The building has uPVC windows.
Inside, the central hall has been significantly altered due to the introduction of a stack. It is defined by cruck trusses, with the upper truss being obscured by the stack. This upper truss includes arch braces and cusped raking struts above the collar, as well as a yoke apex that is notched to support the ridge. A post and panel partition with door openings at each end separates the hall from the inner room(s) at the south end, which is raised in level and also features a cruck truss. The hall itself has twin chamfered spine beams and a fire lintel, although the cheeks of the fireplace have been rebuilt. The parlour, located behind the stack, has joists that display decorative longitudinal scribed grooves. The rear wing of the building contains a dog leg stair and previously housed a bake oven and a well.
