Description
5 Union Street is a three-storey industrial terrace located in Penygloddfa, Newtown. The building features two-storey, one-window houses with weaving lofts above. It is constructed from English garden wall bond brick, with Nos 3, 4, and 5 painted. The gently pitched slate roof is made of old slate for Nos 1 and 2. The eaves cornice has a saw-toothed design, and there is a brace plate on No 1. Lateral chimneys are positioned at the rear.
The weaving lofts above Nos 1 and 2 have three-light casements, while the other windows are modern. The first and ground floors of Nos 1, 2, and 5 feature cross windows, with others being modern. The windows have cambered header arches and shallow reveals without sills. There is a cut window flanking the door to No 5.
The doorcases are plain and include brackets for dripboards, with modern doors. A later continuous lean-to outshut has been added to the rear.
