Description
The Red Lion Inn is a building originally constructed of stone, which was largely refaced with brickwork on the front and back in the early 19th century. It has a slate roof and stands three storeys tall with two bays, accompanied by a contemporary two-storey section at the south end. The building features brick dentilled eaves and gable stacks. The central entrance consists of a ledged door set within a 20th-century reconstructed stone gabled porch. The timber cross windows were renewed in 1996 to match the former pattern, with three panes wide to the left of the entrance and two panes wide to the right, all having segmental brick heads. There is a cellar beneath the right bay. The lower service building to the left includes a six-panelled door, with the upper panels being glazed, along with renewed windows. The rear of the building has three bays with similar windows and a small light at the south end, as well as a flat-roofed extension that spans the full length.
Inside, the space has been opened up but retains the large stack at the south end.
