Description
Wernfigin Uchaf is a farmhouse built from colourwashed rubble stone, topped with imitation slates on the roof. It features a large painted stone stack on the left end and a smaller stack on the ridge towards the right. The building is two storeys high and has a long front with five bays, including a four-bay main section. The upper level has four square windows, with the third window being blank and the others fitted with 4-pane windows. The blank window is situated above a colourwashed stone gabled porch that has stone voussoirs framing an arched entry. Inside the porch, there is a cambered-headed doorway with alternately-textured stone voussoirs and a plank door with iron hinges. The ground floor has stone flags, a sixteen-pane window to the left, and a twelve-pane window to the right. Below the first-floor left window, there is a flight of stone steps leading to a loft door in the outbuilding on the west side of the yard. The windows have stone sills and include hopper windows.
The right bay features a 9-pane cambered-headed window above and a broad cambered arch below, which is slightly aligned to the left. This arch has stone voussoirs and a half-glazed door with a 4-pane sidelight to the right. On the right side of the yard, there is a one-bay link that connects to a lofted 19th-century outbuilding, which has an eaves roof and a central 9-pane loft window above a boarded centre door, with half-glazed doors to the left and right, all framed with stone voussoirs.
On the left side of the yard, there is a larger whitewashed rubble range that includes a lofted stable on the right and a barn on the left. The stable has two cambered-headed doors to the left of the outside stairs, which lead up to a gable loft door. There is a square loft light centrally positioned above the two doors. The main part of the barn features loops on each side of a broad cambered arched high entry, with tooled stone voussoirs and large double doors. The end wall of the barn has one loop above another, situated above a large cambered arched cart-entry at basement level, as the farmyard is raised on a terrace.
The interior has not been inspected, but it is said that the layout includes a dairy situated between two heated rooms. The barn features collar-trusses on wall-posts that extend down to heavy beams.
