Description
Not Just Books is a three-storey building with a four-window front made of scribed stucco, dating from the 19th century. It features a slate roof, a cornice supported by modillion brackets, and red brick chimney stacks with stock brick facing at the front. The building has nine and twelve-pane sash windows with cills. The shop front for Not Just Books includes a cornice and pilasters, with two-light shop windows and transoms, as well as a splayed entrance that has a half-glazed door.
Next to it, The Stag has a plain modern shop front with a three-light bar window, flanking pilasters, and a four-panel door with an architrave and bracketed cornice. To the right of The Stag, there is a round-arched entrance leading to a tunnel passage, complete with impost blocks and a keystone, and a boarded door. The left side of the building is slate-hung, while the right side is red brick with small-pane sash windows. There is an attached brick range bonded into the rear and a rubble range beyond.
