Description
Maes-y-bwch is a large 1½-storey, two-unit house that has been enlarged to three units and extended at the rear. It is built from local irregularly coursed shaley stone, with some traces of render, and features a slate roof with a tile ridge. The house has two stone end chimneys and a lateral stone chimney at the front. The additional unit to the east and the rebuilt rear extension are constructed in quasi-rubble masonry.
On the main (south) elevation, the original part of the house has two 12-pane mullion windows both above and below, with the upper windows set in stone through-eaves dormers. To the left, there is a boarded door, and to the right, a chimney stack sits over a gabled base. At the time of inspection in 2003, the later additional bay was roofless and awaiting renovation, featuring a door on the left and segmentally headed windows aligned on the right.
The stairs from the original house are located within the thickness of the rear wall, providing secondary access to the upper storey of the rear extension.
