Description
This building is one half of a cottage pair, dating from the 18th century, featuring a red brick front laid in Flemish bond. It has dentilled eaves and a slate roof with a large red brick stack positioned between the two houses. The cottage is two storeys high, with each storey containing one window bay and an outer door with a cornice. The windows, which have brick voussoirs and stone sills, include a 20th-century metal triple casement above a large 8-paned horned square sash. The outer door is framed and ledged with thin cover strips, set within a doorcase that has thin reeded pilasters, a fascia, and a cornice. The rear elevation is plastered and features a single-storey outshut.
Inside, there is a massive stopped and chamfered ground floor beam running on an east-west axis, supported by very large joists. There is a possible indication of timber framework in the west wall of the first floor.
