Description

Cynhinfa is a two-storey T-shaped house that features an early north/south range and a crosswing to the south. The house currently faces west and has a small porch located in the middle of the early range.

The early range has been rebuilt using stone and is rendered on the north and east sides. The later crosswing has a timber-framed lateral wall facing south, while the rest of it is also rendered. The timber framing consists of irregular oblong panels with small quadrant braces in the corners of the upper panels, and it is now brick-nogged. Both sections of the house are roofed with slate, featuring a brick chimney for the crosswing and another chimney at the north gable, which is concealed by ivy.

The porch is constructed of light timber with rendered side walls, and the main door is timber boarded. A timber shield is present in the gable of the porch, although any carving on it is no longer identifiable. The house has modern timber windows throughout, except for four 19th-century iron casement windows on the east side of the early range.

Inside, the middle and north units of the early range are separated by a fine post-and-panel partition, which is currently only visible on the north side and includes one doorway on the west side. The crucks can be seen as marks and bulges in the plaster of the crosswalls on either side of the hall unit upstairs, although the roof space was not accessible during the inspection.
