Description

Park Cottage is a one-and-a-half storey house built in a style typical of the estate. It likely dates to the 18th century. The main part of the house is symmetrical, with a cross-gable centrally placed to the front. The building is constructed of brick with rock-faced stone quoins (corner details) and has coped gables (the top edges of the gables) topped with fleur-de-lys finials (decorative ornaments). It has a banded slate roof with a crested ridge tile and paired brick axial stacks (chimneys) with stone quoins.

The front facade has three windows. The main range features 12-pane sash windows set under cambered lintels (curved architectural features). The cross-gable has a canted bay window with an ashlar (finely dressed stone) surround and a matching sash window. Above the canted bay is a round-headed sash window. Flanking the outer bays on the cross-gable are half-dormers (small projecting roofed structures) supported by corbels (projecting stone supports) with sash windows under cambered lintels. A porch has been added to the right of the cross-gable. The side walls have 12-pane sash windows in the lower storey. A single-storey wing, with details matching the original, has been added to the right side wall. A later 20th-century wing is located to the rear. The cottage was not inspected in November and December 1996.
