Description
The West Range of Farmyard Buildings at Maesllymystyn includes a coach-house, stable, hay barn, and granary, and is dated to the late 19th century. The coach-house is two storeys high, constructed from both stone and brick, and features a slate roof. On the north side, there is an exterior staircase, and each gable end has two mullion windows with stone lintels and sills. The east side has large doors.
The range also includes a cattle shelter, which forms the northwest side of a square yard centered on a midden. This shelter is divided into two parts, with four bays and two bays respectively, and is open at the front, supported by cast iron columns. The roof trusses showcase a notable example of late 19th century mixed timber and wrought iron construction.
At the rear, there is an open-fronted hay barn facing north, consisting of seven bays with stone piers. The last two bays on the west have been converted into a granary.
Additionally, at the north end of the cattle shelter, there is a small stable made of irregularly coursed stone with a hipped roof. The stable has a symmetrical front facing east, featuring barred windows and a central door with a hatch above. There is also a small catslide extension at the rear.
