Description
Pen-y-bryn Farmhouse is a two-storey, two-unit symmetrical farmhouse built from axe-dressed uncoursed stonework, which is painted white. It features a hipped slate roof with tiled ridges and hips, along with a brick mid chimney. The entrance has a modern central semi-glazed door and porch. The windows are small-pane, with the upper windows consisting of two lights and iron opening casements. To the left, there is a mullion window below, while to the right, there is a mullion and transom window, also with iron opening casements.
At the rear, there are extensions that are partly stone and partly brickwork, topped with a slate lean-to roof. Some sections are made of concrete blockwork with a flat roof, featuring modern doors and windows.
The interior has a symmetrical two-unit lobby-entrance plan with large back-to-back fireplaces. Notably, on the bressummer of the fireplace in the right room, there is a scratched circular feature with six petals, which is generally regarded as an evil-eye talisman, a feature not uncommon in locally found sub-mediaeval houses.
