Description
Penybont Hall is a two-and-a-half storey building with a rendered front and exposed yellow brick at the rear. It features a projecting bay with a gable, ornamental bargeboards, and a finial, along with similar ornamentation on the end gables. To the right-hand end, there is a single-storey canted bay window, while the rear wing has a two-storey bay window. An enclosed porch is located on the right side. The large ridge stack is positioned to the right of centre and has six ornamental brick flues, with a similar paired flue on the left. The front elevation displays a three-window range with Regency-style drop cills and modern glazing, as well as hood moulds over the upper windows.
The interior features rich decorative schemes, primarily dating from 1875 in a Gothic style. The drawing-room retains earlier raised and fielded panelled window reveals. There is a four-centred hall arch with attached columns and heraldic devices in the spandrels, along with a coved and ribbed hall ceiling adorned with ornamental plasterwork. The ornate panelled doors and architraves enhance the interior's elegance. The billiard room, which was formerly the dining room, includes a linenfold panelled dado and a panelled fire surround.
