Description

Gwyneira is a farmhouse with attached farm buildings, dating from the 18th century. The farmhouse is constructed of painted brick and stone, with a slate roof. It is two storeys high and has two bays. A boarded door is situated in a heavy frame opposite a central axial stack. The windows are timber, with paned glass and opening casements. The parlour on the right side of the farmhouse has a chamber above. This chamber has a jettied gable, supported on stepped timber brackets. The gable apex is further jettied, with scrolled brackets carrying a moulded bressumer, square panel framing, raking struts carrying the principal rafters, a single tier of purlins. The stack has two diagonally set brick stacks. There are two lean-to additions across the rear elevation, and a hand pump outside the back door.

Attached to the north end of the farmhouse is a range of timber-framed farm buildings with weatherboarding and random slate roofing. This range consists of five bays and includes storage lofts. The front of the farm buildings has six doors and two pitching openings leading to the upper level.

A subsequent inspection of the farm building interior revealed it to be divided by timber framing into five bays. The timber framing is largely intact, and the roof is supported by simple strut trusses. Two doors on the left side provide access to what were likely stabling areas. A right-hand door leads to a small room containing a feed rack, with a mid-20th century door inserted to its right, creating access to a small room of full depth. Three further doors to the right provide access to a pair of stalls with a central feeding passage, and the stalls and feeding trough remain.
