Description

Clochfaen Cottage is a large, asymmetrical two-storey building with attics, which includes garages and cottages. It is built from rock-faced random stone and features red tile roofs with blue brick end stacks and slate-hung gable ends. A dressed stone string course runs along the first floor. The windows are two-light small-pane wooden casements, and the attic has tile-hung dormers with hipped roofs.

To the left of the center, there is an advanced section that contains three garages, each with double boarded part-lit doors featuring small panes, all under a continuous slate lintel. Above the central garage, there is a red sandstone tablet with a heraldic emblem and the year '1912' in relief. The advanced section has three windows above, with a single dormer to the left and a double dormer to the right in the attic storey. The building has one window to the left of the advanced section and two windows to the right. To the left, there is a boarded door with an adjoining casement window, both of which have small-pane overlights. To the right of the advanced section, there is a single doorway with an overlight, and to its right, a pair of double boarded doors; the attic features single dormers.

At the rear, there is a short gabled wing towards the center with slate-hanging. To its left, the block has two windows with attic dormers, although the ground floor is cut into the bank. The elevation to the right of the wing is not visible, but the eaves line projects down.

Adjoining the cottage is a single-storey stable block with an attic, also made of rock-faced random stone under a red tiled roof, featuring a stone ridge stack offset to the left. The stable block has split doors at the center and right, both with small-pane overlights, and the central doorway is flanked by short wide small-pane lights. To the left, there is a boarded door with an adjacent two-light small-pane casement. Above the central doorway, in a full-height gabled dormer, there is a boarded loft door that is tile-hung on the sides.

The interior of the cottage was not seen during the resurvey.
