Description

Malt House Farmhouse is a timber-framed farmhouse, likely dating to the 17th century, and probably of a type C plan. It has a gable end clad in corrugated iron and a slate roof. The building is one storey and has an attic, originally with three bays. However, the entrance is located at the hall end of a double-width parlour bay at the east end, with service rooms to the west. A lean-to kitchen is at the rear, and previously contained an oven.

The timber frame is three panels high and includes corner braces. The parlour bay’s frame is six panels wide, but has been altered at the upper level. A panelled door is set within a 20th-century open-fronted porch. The windows are two-light timber casements, and there are three gabled dormers in the roof. A three-flue brick stack is present. The building was not accessible at the time of inspection.
