Description
The outbuildings at Pontybat are constructed from whitewashed rubble stone and feature slate roofs, hipped at the northwest angle. The buildings are arranged in an L-shape, with a barn that runs parallel to the road and has a gable end facing east. The northern range, also parallel to the road, includes a barn on the eastern side that has two cross-loops flanking a tall door with a timber lintel. The left cross-loop has been enlarged into a long narrow light. To the right, there is a range with five tall open upper bays separated by stone piers, and a low door on the ground floor to the left, also with a timber lintel. The western end features two cambered-headed 19th-century cart entries with cut stone voussoirs. On the southern side, there is an added stone lean-to.
At the right angle to the eastern end, this range has an eastern front with a slate lean-to to the left of a damaged full-height barn opening, and two rows of two vent-loops to the right, adjacent to a straight joint leading to the end of the road-side range, which contains two cross-loops. The walls of this range are bowing. The buildings have not been inspected.
