Description
Caerberis Lodge is a Jacobean style lodge situated on a steep riverbank. The building features a main wing that is one and a half storeys tall, with its gable facing the front. Behind this is a lower rear wing that is two storeys high and positioned at right angles to the main wing, with its lower storey aligned with the basement of the main wing. The walls are rendered and enhanced with timber framing, resting on a coursed rock-faced lower storey and plinth. The roofs are covered with clay tiles, and each wing has a brick chimney stack.
The front gable end showcases coursed rock-faced stone on the lower storey, with timber framing above. It includes a canted three-light bay window on the lower storey and a two-light oriel window above, with the gable supported by the bay window and projecting on end brackets. The entrance is located in an outshut on the left side of the gable end, facing Golf Links Road. It features a porch with a dwarf stone wall, fluted wooden posts, and a hipped roof. Inside the porch is a half-lit panelled door. A V-shaped window on a scrolled bracket lights the entrance hall, and above it is a two-light roof dormer. The rear wing extends in front of the outshut and has a three-light mullioned window on its upper storey. On the right side of the main wing, there is an external stone chimney stack with a brick upper section, followed by a small casement window. The rear wing projects forward but not as far as the left side, featuring a three-light window in its lower storey under a segmental stone head, while the upper storey has a two-light oriel window. The gable of the rear wing is timber framed. The rear of the lodge, which faces a small backyard, includes a lean-to, with a rear window and a boarded door beneath segmental brick heads.
Inside, a small entrance hall leads to a staircase that provides access to the attic of the main wing and the upper storey of the rear wing, as well as down to the basement of the main wing and the lower storey of the rear wing. The staircase features square moulded balusters and newels that are simpler than those found in the main stairs at Caerberis Manor. Throughout the lodge, there are panelled doors.
