Description
Braich-y-waen Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century, is a two-storey building featuring two windows and a lobby-entry plan with the door located to the left. The front and ends are roughcast rendered, while the rear is made of limewashed uncoursed rubble. The roof has been renewed with slate and has a tile ridge, along with rendered end-chimneys. The farmhouse has paired casement windows at both the front and rear, a small 20th-century porch at the front, and a larger 20th-century lean-to porch at the rear.
Adjacent to the farmhouse on the east are the stable and pigsties, constructed from uncoursed rubble masonry. The stable has a projecting section that includes a small window at the front and a door on its right side, as well as two boarded doors, a window, and a loft hatch at the rear.
The farmhouse consists of two units, featuring a large chimney and a lobby entrance to the left, facing southeast. A survey by Rees from around 1950 indicates that there is a back-kitchen located at the rear of the left (living room) unit and a dairy at the rear of the right (parlour) unit.
