Description

Bleddfa Old Rectory is a two-storey house with roughcast render and slate roofs, featuring some scalloped bargeboards and stone chimneys that have been extended upwards in brick. The building has a basic T-plan layout, with one block running parallel to the road and another block at right angles that includes an added double-gabled section. The windows consist of sash glazing in the added block, while the rest of the house has small-pane casements with pointed heads.

On the northwest elevation, there are two gables, with the right gable set forward. The doorway is offset to the right and is sheltered by a gabled hood, flanked by triple sash windows on each side. On the first floor, the left gable features a sash window, the right gable has a double sash window, and there are two smaller sash windows in the centre. At the rear, in the southeast block, there is a hooded doorway with a late Georgian style doorcase that has deep panelled reveals and a part-glazed door with marginal glazing bars. Above this doorway is a small casement window. In the block to the right, the first floor has a two-light casement window, with a similar window on the ground floor. The gable end facing southeast has a two-light casement window on the first floor and a modern semi-octagonal bay on the ground floor that matches the style and materials of the house. The southwest elevation of this block includes a small casement window on the first floor and a single-light and a three-light casement on the ground floor. The return to the left has a two-light casement on the first floor and modern glazed doors in a matching style on the ground floor. The other windows on the west side have sash glazing, and there is an early 20th-century addition that uses matching materials and style.

The interior retains period detailing, including doors, and features stone steps leading to a cellar, which is said to have once been a chapel. The cellar has a beamed ceiling and flagstone floors.
