Description
Trewern Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the 18th century, constructed of rendered and painted stone with slate roofs. The building is two storeys high and features three bays, with single storey hipped extensions at both ends and a 20th-century extension at the rear.
The central gabled porch is made of painted brick and has channelled piers; it was originally open but now has a late 20th-century door. The central bay is gabled and includes a small oculus with glazing bars, which is currently covered with a plastic sheet. The long windows, originally 18-paned sashes in segmental headed openings, have been replaced with hinged sashes in the late 20th century. The single storey extensions have 16-paned sashes, although the right-hand one has been replaced. There are no windows on the rear of the cottage. Two brick stacks are positioned on either side of the central stair hall, and the roof of the extension continues over the rear entrance on the south side. Centrally located on the rear wall is a slate panel inscribed with "AG/1796/IW."
