Description
Stryt Lydan Farm-house is a two-storey farmhouse with a notably high attic storey, featuring a two-window range and a lower rear wing. The building is constructed of brick in Flemish bond with pale headers on the main façade and has a nogged eaves course. It has a shallow pitched slate roof with gable-end stacks. The central doorway is set within an added gabled porch that has a swept roof, bracketted eaves, and a finial. On each floor, there are three-light casement windows flanking the doorway, which have flat arched brick heads. The lower wing at the rear includes a three-light casement window on the ground floor with a single ring cambered head and a smaller two-light casement window above. The stack indicates the position of the original gable end, but the wing has been extended by one bay beyond it.
The farmhouse has a two-unit plan, with a large fireplace indicating the position of the principal room to the left of the doorway. This room features a timber brissumer above, and both rooms have stop-chamfered beams. The roof timbers appear to be more recent, suggesting that the house was re-roofed during the 19th century.
