Description
West View is a Georgian vernacular classical house dating from the 18th century. It has 2½ storeys and a symmetrical front with three windows. The building is constructed of brick and features a slate roof with coped gables resting on moulded kneelers, along with three rebuilt brick stacks. The entrance is located in a shallow advanced bay topped with an open pediment. It includes a fielded-panel door beneath a round-headed overlight and sidelights, all sheltered by a gabled canopy. The original window openings are set under keyed wedge lintels, with larger openings on the lower storey, although all windows have been replaced. The central pediment displays a broken dentil cornice, a keyed oculus, and a coped verge.
To the left side, set slightly back, there is a 20th-century extension that is one storey tall. The left gable end features replacement windows, including an attic window on the right side. The right gable end also has replacement two-pane sashes on the right side in each storey. At the rear, there is a wing that serves as a separate dwelling known as The Holding. The property has not been inspected.
