Description
Plas-newydd is a 3-bay farmhouse dating from the 18th century, featuring one storey and an attic. The walls are pebble-dashed, topped with a steep slate roof that has two skylights and tall end stacks. The windows are late 19th century 4-pane sashes, located in gabled half dormers that have cusped barge boards and finials. The central doorway has a panelled door and is framed by a recently added lean-to porch.
To the left gable end, there is a 2-bay cart house with a higher eaves line, featuring wide segmental arches; the left arch is open while the right arch is infilled with an added window and has loft doors above. A rubble-stone lean-to extends from the left end of the cart house. The right gable end of the farmhouse has two windows with 4-pane sashes, except for a small-pane horned sash window in the upper right. There is also a boarded-up cellar opening on the right side.
At the rear, there is an enlarged window on the lower left, next to a single-storey flat-roofed projection added to the right. In the upper storey, there are windows on both sides; the left retains a small-pane sash while the right has been replaced. A small-pane horned sash window, located lower in the centre, lights the stairwell. The rear of the cart house features a loft door on the right side, and behind it, the main house has an inserted upper-storey 2-light casement window to the left of the stack.
Inside, the original hall on the left side of the front retains a single spine beam that extends into the current stair hall, which has a closed string stair, and a fireplace with a dated timber lintel.
