Description
The monument to Bishop Brown is a high Gothic memorial located in the burial ground of the church of St David. It features a small chest tomb set on a moulded and tapered plinth, topped with a roof-like slab that is gabled in the shape of a cross. The top slab is covered with fish-scale slates and has a rolled and reeded cross. The sides of the tomb are inscribed. At the head of the tomb, there is an ornate foliate cross, which is richly decorated on all sides with various emblems and images in both high and low relief. The cross is flanked by angels that are supported on composite piers with clustered shafts and traceried gablets.
