Description
Jerusalem Chapel is a Welsh Calvinistic Methodist chapel with a gable front, originally built of limestone and topped with a slate roof. The main facade has been rebuilt using a distinctive red and blue brick in a diaper pattern, which is typical for the region, and features stone dressings including quoins. The front is accentuated by a band course at the eaves level that creates a pediment effect.
There are two tall central windows flanked by doorways, with all openings featuring dressed stone round-arched heads that include keystones and imposts. Although the glazing has been renewed, the original panelled double doors have been preserved. A central plaque is inscribed above the doors. The side elevations have large 15-pane sash windows arranged in three bays. Attached to the left side of the chapel is a two-storey former minister's house.
Inside, the chapel has a rectangular layout without a gallery, with gently raked seating arranged to face the classical wooden set fawr against the front wall, with stairs on either side. The interior also boasts an ornate plaster ceiling rose.
