Description
37 Glynne Way is a mid-19th century, two-storey brick terrace. This terrace represents a complete domestic remodelling of a range from John Rigby's iron foundry, which was established in the 1770s and closed in 1854. Evidence of early 19th century work related to the foundry can be seen at the rear.
The building features a continuous, gently-pitched slate roof with three simply-moulded brick stacks and dentilated eaves. The front is asymmetrical, with windows and doors on the ground floor arranged as W DD W WD W. The entrances are recessed with cambered heads, and there are plain vertically panelled doors topped with tripartite fan-lights. The ground floor has 12-pane recessed sash windows, also with cambered heads, while the first floor has five randomly-placed windows with painted, projecting cills.
At the rear, there are large one and a half-storey arches that have been blocked, with domestic windows added. The rear extensions for Nos 33 and 35 are modern.
