Description
Garth Mill and Mill House is a three-storey mill constructed of rubble stone with a slate roof. The original openings feature stone segmental heads and were renewed around 1983. The lower storey includes a wide former doorway with a keystone on the right, which has been converted into a window, and a second doorway on the left, also changed to a window. In the middle storey, there are windows in the center and at a higher level on the left. The former wheelpit remains against the left gable end, with a stone retaining wall at the rear. The original circular dressed-stone opening for the wheel's axle has been modified into a round-headed doorway, and above it is an attic window.
On the right gable end, there are windows on the left in the middle storey and in the attic, along with an inserted window in the upper storey. Set back against the right gable end is the two-storey, double-fronted mill house, which also has a slate roof with brick stacks at the center and right. The openings in the mill house have brick segmental heads in the lower storey and are positioned beneath the eaves in the upper storey. The doorway retains a 19th-century boarded door, while the windows were replaced around 1983. At the back of the mill house, there is an outshut with a boarded door in the side wall and an inserted toilet window.
At the rear of the mill, the ground level is higher and features inserted windows, but retains a doorway on the upper right with a boarded door and a doorway on the left side of the middle storey. Attached to the left gable end of the mill is a pitched roof made of asbestos slates, covering the wheelpit and extending to a stable and cart shed. This structure is also built of rubble stone and has openings beneath wooden lintels. On the right side, there are garage doors with a brick surround, along with a shuttered window and a boarded door to the left.
The interior of the mill has been converted into a public house.
