Description
1-11 Glanyrafon Cottages
A row of 11 single-fronted 2-storey cottages of rubble stone with barge boards, slate roof and diagonally set stone ridge stacks. Nos 1, 3 and 7 also have attic windows in gables. The openings have stone lintels with drip stones in the lower storey, and in the upper storey and attic of Nos 1, 3 and 7, while the remaining cottages have upper-storey windows beneath the eaves. The windows all have stone sills. In each cottage the window is on the L side of the doorway. Between Nos 6 and 7 is a passage at lower storey level with segmental stone arches to the front and rear walls, leading to a passage at the rear. On the R of the passage, Nos 7-11, the roof line is higher. Nos 11 and 12 have a slightly deeper plan and have pairs of diagonal stacks. The houses have rear doors and windows renewed in earlier openings.
Internally, the cottages comprise 2 rooms in the lower storey.
Retaining the original boarded door, with 3-light casement in the lower storey and restored horizontal-sliding sash window in the upper storey. Gabled projection to the rear.
