Description

Ffrith Farmhouse is a 1½-storey building with timber-framing, painted brick nogging, and a stone plinth. The structure features a slate roof and brick chimneys, with an L-shaped plan that includes a 2-storey rear wing. The front elevation faces east and has a range on the right with a 20th-century ground floor window and an offset gabled dormer likely from the 19th century. There is an entrance on the left side, next to the gabled end of the west range, which has no openings and features a chimney rising from the gable.

The right-hand return elevation is similar to the front but has unpainted rubble. The left-hand return elevation includes a range with three ground floor windows, timber-framed in square panels with some diagonal braces. It also has an offset gabled dormer on the right and a simple square-headed dormer on the left. Attached to the left is a 2-storey stone rubble range with one window on each floor and a door to the right; the upper window is a multipaned casement.

The rear elevation shows signs of alteration in the stonework, suggesting a former doorway. It has one small square window on the ground floor and a multipaned casement on the upper floor. The remaining elevation to the left is also framed in square panels with some diagonal braces and features two ground-floor windows, one of which is a 3-light timber mullion. The rear elevation on the west side has one window and is timber-framed in rectangular panels, with a low stone outbuilding attached to the left.

Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered ceiling beams and timber-framed walls, with parts of the roof trusses exposed on the upper floor. Two rooms contain fireplaces with timber bressummers, and the fireplace in the west wing connects to the stone outbuilding.
