Description

The Limekiln at Graig Tremerchion is a single working recess limekiln, approximately 6 meters wide and high. It is constructed from limestone, featuring a straight front with concave sides. The masonry is axe dressed, while the quoins are finished to a rock texture with dressed arrisses at both the main corners and the corners of the working recess. The arch above the working recess consists of three half-brick rings.

Notably, the working hole is positioned unusually high above a segmental arch, and the kiln's interior void, which appears to be about 2.5 meters in diameter, is smaller than one might expect given the kiln's exterior size.

An 1871 map indicates that the kiln was accessed by a track from the north, leading from Graig.
