Description
Henblas Hall is a two-storey house constructed from local axe-dressed limestone and topped with slate roofs. The building features a short main range, or hall, with two cross wings, the eastern wing of which is dated 1611. This wing includes a broad lateral stack in a gabled projection on the road-facing side, with an added lean-to alongside. The main elevation displays a 4-light mullioned and transomed window on each storey, while smaller stone-mullioned windows are found on the rear elevation. The short hall range has a segmentally headed arched doorway with chamfered voussoirs, leading to a brick axial stack. To the left of the entrance is a 4-light mullioned window from the 19th century, along with a 3-light oak mullioned window in the dormer gable above.
The broad west wing is slightly advanced and features 19th-century mullioned and transomed windows on each floor. The west elevation of this wing displays an Arts and Crafts design, with a storeyed porch to the left of centre, balanced by a gabled full-height canted bay to the right. The canted bay has a stone mullioned and transomed window wrapping around the ground floor, with a smaller oak mullioned window above. The porch has a segmentally headed doorway and an oak mullioned window above it, along with a small mullioned window between the two and a transomed window to the left of the porch. The upper storey features an unusual band of timber framing with brick infill, possibly indicating a raising of the original wall height. A brick axial stack with ribbed shafts is also present.
The interior of the older wing has not been inspected. In the later part of the house, there is relocated wainscot believed to have originated from a church or chapel.
