Description
The hearse-house at the Church of St Mary is a rectangular building with a gabled roof, constructed from rubble and covered with slate. It features a wide segmentally-arched entrance on the front gable, which faces the road, and is adorned with rough-dressed voussoirs. The original oak frame is chamfered and pegged, and the doors are made of boarded pine, with vertical vents cut into them and restored lower sections. Above the entrance, there is a rectangular sandstone plaque that reads: 'This hearse-house was erected and given by Edward Owen Esq. of Fachlwyd for the use of this parish, 1823'. The interior of the hearse-house is plain.
