Description
This former mill is a large two-storey building, constructed on the ground floor with large blocks of coursed grey stone and some red sandstone, sitting on a rubble plinth. The upper part is made of rough red brick, which has been painted, and it is topped with a slate roof. At the rear, there is a lateral brick stack rising from a gable, next to a lower two-storey rear wing.
The front of the building features original elements, including a wheel-arch to the right of the center, which has a wide segmental arch made of stone voussoirs that has been infilled with a door and glazing. To the far left, there is an entrance with a pointed arch made of moulded red sandstone, also infilled with glazing. To the right of the wheel-arch, there is a red sandstone lancet that is now blocked. The remaining openings are from the late 20th century, featuring concrete lintels, wooden doors, and plain-glazed wooden casements. Between the original entrance and the wheel-arch, there is a door to the left and a window to the right, with a similar arrangement to the right of the wheel-arch. The upper storey has six windows, and there are skylights in the roof pitch. Each gable end has a red sandstone lancet in a heavy surround, with a sunken sandstone cross on the east gable. In the raised brickwork section, the east gable end has a tall mid-level wooden window to the left and two small lights in the gable, while the west gable end has two two-light casements in the attic. The rear elevation is roughcast, with openings that are part of a late 20th-century conversion, featuring wooden doors and two-light wooden casements similar to the front. The attic has three small gabled dormers with two-light casements and a skylight to the right.
The rear wing, which is continuous with the east gable end, is made of painted rubble with brick patching and has a slate roof with a brick ridge stack. The east front has ground floor openings under segmental heads of stone voussoirs, including a wide boarded door to the left of center, a lower door in the center, and a small window opening to the right. The upper storey has three irregular late 20th-century wooden windows grouped to the far right, while four former window openings have been infilled with brick. The south gable end features a large uPVC window. The rear has a large lean-to with late 20th-century openings related to the conversion.
The interior has not been seen.
