Description

Pont Howkin is a three-span bridge that originally featured a humped deck, with the central arch being higher and wider than the others. It is built from large blocks of coursed yellow sandstone and has segmental arches made of stone voussoirs, which include dripmoulds. The bridge has cut-waters with moulded tops and plain stone abutments that have been widened in yellow sandstone. The current concrete deck, supported by concrete beams, has a lower rise than the original bridge and is topped with plain iron railings.
