Description
Creigiog Isaf is a farmhouse constructed from rubble stone with slate roofs, dating from the 18th century. It features one and a half storeys and a two-unit plan with an added service range. The building has stepped shouldered gables at each end and a large square stone stack on the ridge of the service wing, with an additional brick chimney at the northwest corner. The main stack is adorned with dripstones and capstones, and the coping consists of rough thin slabs arranged both horizontally and vertically.
The northern gable end showcases large cornerstones and projecting stones beneath the gable shoulders. Each floor has a small pair of casement windows, while the west side features a triple casement under the eaves to the right of center, and another triple casement on the ground floor further to the right. The southern rear has a similar stepped gable with triple casements on each floor, complete with timber lintels. The eastern side includes a short return that is whitewashed, with a triple casement below and a whitewashed 10-pane sash window above, leading into the service range on the left.
The rear of the main range has a stepped gable with triple casements on each floor and timber lintels, while the west side has a pair of casements under the eaves to the right of center and a triple casement on the ground floor further right. The service range extends eastward with a lower roof pitch, featuring a boarded loft window with a cambered head on the first floor center, a boarded door to the right, and a casement-pair window adjacent, along with a similar window on the far left. All openings have cambered heads and squared stone voussoirs.
Stone steps at the eastern end lead to a loft door with stone voussoirs. The rear includes a low three-light timber mullion window on the first floor to the left, above a ground floor ledged door with an overlight, also featuring stone voussoirs. A 20th-century window is located to the right of the door, and to the left, in the angle of the main range, is an outshut section with an eastern door.
Inside, the farmhouse has a two-room plan with entry to the side of the main chimney through a door in the service range. There is a massive fireplace, two large beams in the eastern room, and an open stair leading up. A cellar is located beneath the northern end, and the roof features massive purlins and a partially covered heavy truss. The service range contains a fireplace that backs onto the main fireplace.
