Description
Pont-yr-allt-Goch is an impressive single-span road bridge constructed from rubble and faced with fine ashlar blocks of buff-coloured sandstone. It features a wide segmental arch with a rusticated soffit, and the chamfered rustication extends onto the bridge faces as projecting voussoirs made of red sandstone, which contrasts with the buff ashlar of the main structure. The bridge has a tripartite projecting keystone and a gently-humped carriageway with splayed approaches that end in rectangular piers. The sandstone ashlar parapet is reset and has simply-moulded copings along with plain 20th-century iron railings, and there is a moulded stringcourse below. The parapet includes a central projecting section above the keystone on both sides and rises slightly towards the centre.
