Description

The Lime Kiln above Bryn-goleu is a structure built from large limestone blocks, standing approximately 5 meters high. It features an oval front with a rough segmental arch that is 2 meters high over the drawing tunnel, which tapers back to a brick-built hearth that is 1.3 meters high, with the bricks slightly corbelled forward. The sides of the front are supported by two low raking buttresses, and wing walls help retain the trackway above. The charging hole is oval, measuring approximately 2 meters by 1.5 meters, and currently contains a sycamore tree.
