Description
The chest tomb of Twm O'r Nant is a rectangular structure made of polished slate. It features two-panel sides with fielded panels that have extruded corners, and single panel ends. The eastern end has a modern slate plaque attached, which bears the carved inscription: 'Bedd Twm O'r Nant'. The tomb-slab has chamfered sides and displays a primary carved inscription at the top that reads: 'Here lieth the body of Thomas Edwards of Nant, The Cambrian Shakespeare, with his wife and four of his daughters. Died April 3rd 1810 aged 71.' Below this, there are two later verses inscribed in Welsh.
