Description

Llwyn-Uchaf is a two-storey farmhouse built in an L-plan shape, dating from the 18th century. It features a main block facing south, with a long, lower range attached at right angles to the north. The building is constructed from limestone rubble and has slate roofs with tiled ridges. The main block has a hipped roof and two-stage brick end chimneys adorned with dentilations. The south facade has four bays, with the entrance located in the third bay. This entrance consists of a recessed panelled door topped by a 4-pane rectangular overlight and dressed stone lintel. The windows on this facade are 12-pane wooden cross windows, each with projecting stone sills and similar stone lintels.

The lower range has an entrance on its west (inner) side, accessed through a 20th-century part-rendered and slated porch. To the right of the porch is an 8-pane rectangular horizontal sash window; to the left are small 4-pane casements flanking a 2-light casement that includes a 6-pane and a 4-pane section. The first floor features eight-pane two-part casements, and there are two narrow brick chimneys at the center. The left-hand bay of this range includes a wide cart entrance with a boarded loading bay above, which is topped by a brick dormer with a pitched roof and deep verges. The cart entrance has a corresponding entrance at the rear, creating a covered passage. To the left of this range, and stepped down from it, is a late 19th-century single-storey addition with three bays and a hipped roof. This addition has a central stepped-up entrance and small-pane cross-windows, all framed with brick quoins and cambered heads. Another hipped-roofed single-storey block is attached beyond this addition.

Access to the interior was not possible during the inspection.
