Description

This is a two-storey brick barn, likely dating from the 19th century. It is constructed of random-bond brick with a slate roof, featuring coped and kneelered gable parapets finished with sandstone slabs and original shaped kneelers. The barn has entrances on opposing sides; the front entrance is modern, set within a larger opening, and both entrances have boarded double doors. Numerous ventilation slits are present on the sides, most of which are now blocked, with four tiers still visible on the west gable. The upper floor has a twelve-pane, two-part casement window on the north side, alongside a boarded window or loading bay, accessed by a ladder. The east gable features two paired leaded windows, and a leaded cross-window on the first floor, all dating from about 1900. This upper window is topped by a sandstone lintel and a segmental brick relieving arch. The barn has a 19th-century king-post roof, and incorporates a modern garage on the ground floor.
