Description

Wern-fawr Farmhouse is a symmetrical three-window, three-storey farmhouse dating from the 18th century, featuring a two-window, two-storey rear wing aligned to the right. The main range extends to the left (north) with a lower range for stables and cartsheds. At the rear (east) of the main wing, there is a lean-to cross-range that is one and a half storeys high, along with single-storey extensions to the main part of the house at the rear. The front of the house and most parts at the rear are finished in roughcast, topped with slate roofs.

The front windows are sash type, mostly without horns, and vary in height with 12, 9, and 6 panes. They feature stone sills and cambered arches. A later timber porch with a slate roof and brickwork plinth leads to a semi-glazed four-panel door. On the garden side of the rear wing (south), there are nine-pane sash windows above, a roofed 12-pane bay window with four-pane sidelights below on the left, and a French window with sidelights and overlights below on the right.

The rear displays irregular fenestration, including a horizontally sliding sash window in the top storey of the house. The stables and cartsheds form a two-storey wing to the north, facing the rear yard. The cartsheds next to the house are constructed in brickwork with semi-elliptical openings, featuring hatches centrally above and a door on the left. They also have a slate roof. Beyond these, there is a stable and a wider cartshed made from slatey stone and limestone dressings, with a roof of different slates and a loft door in the angled end gable wall.

The interior has not been inspected.
