Description

Plas-yn-llan is a 2-storey timber-framed house with a slate roof, oriented east to west. The east gable is made of uncoursed stone and features a large square chimney stack. The framing on the west side has two panels high, richly decorated with diagonal timbers that create lozenge and herringbone patterns. The north elevation is similar but consists of only three panels in height across both storeys. The first floor of the south and west elevations jetties out significantly, with the west gable end also slightly jettied at the roof level. The corner post at the south-west angle of the jetty is supported by three brackets, each with a thin pilaster carved from the solid.

On the west side, there is a 3-light mullioned window above and a 4-light mullion and transom window below. The north side has three 3-light windows on both storeys. A large later-rendered stone chimney is positioned against the jettied south elevation, featuring a slated west extension that may have originally served as an oven. Above the eaves, there is another offset with a short section of bare stonework at the top and two diagonally-placed square shafts.

Later additions include a slate-roofed brick lean-to against the east gable wall and two 2-storey brick wings extending south, along with a modern glazed conservatory. The shorter wing features modern Tudor-style semi-glazed doors.

Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to include a timber screen, wattle and daub panels, a gardrobe off the principal bedroom, and a staircase with close string and splat balusters.
