Description
This is a courtyard range of farm buildings attached to Gelli Gynan farmhouse, enclosing the west and north sides of the yard with a short return on the east. The buildings are constructed of rubble stone with slate roofs. The west range connects to the farmhouse at the left end, featuring a two-bay roof supported by a long timber beam at the front, with a tie-beam and angle-struts to the truss and a rear outshut that includes a stone pier supporting the truss. The stone range on the right is lofted and incorporates some brick in the gable end, which is now internal. There is one square loft opening to the left of center. The ground floor has a sequence of windows and doors: a window, a door, another window, another window, and a door, all with timber lintels, except for the left door which has a cambered head and stone voussoirs. The windows are half-boarded and square, and the right door is narrower than the left.
The attached north range appears to be later, from the 19th century, and has a taller eaves level compared to the barn on the left, featuring one door with a timber lintel. To the right, there is a long outshut stable with half-boarded windows under the eaves on both the left and right sides, along with a door with a timber lintel located to the left of center. There is a full-height door at the extreme right, and the interior has a monopitch roof. The east range has a lower roof and is windowless towards the courtyard, with a boarded loft light in the south gable end. The outer east side has a sequence of a door, a window, a door, another window, and a door leading to the main part, all with timber lintels. There is one eaves-breaking loft light to the right of center, a full-height door to the right, and then an added block with slightly higher eaves, which is windowless to the east and has outside steps leading to a loft door on the north side.
